The shape of the day
Most operators run the same skeleton. Depart Florence early, Pisa first while the Field of Miracles is still quiet, then across to a Chianti estate for lunch and tasting, then Siena in the afternoon with free time in the Campo, back into Florence around 19:00.
A minority run it in reverse to dodge coach traffic at Pisa. Both work; what matters is that you get the tower before eleven or after four, not in between.

Big coach or small minibus
The price gap is real and so is the difference. A fifty-seat coach means longer stops for loading and a larger group in the cellar. An eight-to-sixteen-seat minibus reaches estates the coaches cannot access and shortens every transition.
If your day includes San Gimignano, the minibus versions are worth the supplement — the hill approach is where big coaches lose the most time.

What the wine tasting actually is
Expect a working estate rather than a bar: a walk through the cellar, an explanation of the Chianti Classico designation and the black rooster seal, then three to five pours with bread, oil and pecorino. Lunch is usually included at the same table.
Bottles bought at the estate are cheaper than in Florence and the coach has luggage space, which is the practical reason most people buy there.

The Pisa tower question
Climbing the leaning tower is a timed, extra ticket with a limited group size. On a group day trip it only works if the operator has pre-booked it into the schedule — buying it yourself on the day almost never fits the departure time. Check the inclusion before you book if the climb matters to you.
