Editorial manifesto

Where the words come from

Each guide starts from my own notes and first-hand visits where I have them. For the destinations I haven't reached, the editorial team drafts the guide from official sources — tourism boards, operator listings, transit timetables — and an editor reviews every entry before it goes live. We label AI-assisted drafting openly in the footer of each page. We never pretend a place we haven't visited was visited.

Where the photos come from

Every photo is real and place-specific, sourced from Wikimedia Commons under a free licence with the photographer credited — or shown as “No verified photo yet” when we don't have one. We never use a stock image to stand in for a destination we haven't photographed.

How we pick hotels and tours

Hotel and tour listings come from affiliate partners (Booking, Viator). We surface them by location and rating, not by commission. When a listing is sponsored, it's labelled. We earn a small fee if you book through a link; that doesn't change what appears.

What we don't do

We don't accept press trips, paid placements in guides, or “guaranteed” rankings. We don't claim personal experience where we don't have it. If a guide is based on research rather than a visit, we say so.
