Travel journal · 41.60°N · 1.70°E

Four provinces and 580 km of Mediterranean coast — from the Costa Brava's Cap de Creus to the Ebro delta. Barcelona holds the world's densest one-hour walk of Modernista architecture (Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, Park Güell). Behind it, the vineyards of the Penedès, the monasteries of Montserrat and Poblet, the Pyrenees at 3,000 m and El Celler de Can Roca in Girona. This is the guide to sleeping in a Modernista bank, kayaking Cap de Creus, cava-tasting under a Puig i Cadafalch cellar and dining at three of the world's top fifty restaurants — all within two hours of Plaça Catalunya.
