Back at 15:00 for a nap. 20:00 dinner at Metaxy Mas — grilled octopus, fried feta with sesame and honey, Assyrtiko. Walk back to Imerovigli under the stars.

What we've noted for next time
Getting there
Athens (ATH) is the mainland hub for long-haul and continental flights. Santorini (JTR), Mykonos (JMK), Heraklion & Chania (HER/CHQ) and Corfu (CFU) are the main direct island gateways in summer. Off-season most islands route through Athens.
Getting around
Fly with Aegean or Sky Express between the mainland and the Cyclades / Crete. Blue Star Ferries for slow, cheap island hopping; SeaJets for fast catamarans. Rent a car on Crete, the Peloponnese and larger Cyclades (Naxos, Milos). Athens has an excellent metro from the airport.
Best time to go
May–early June and September–early October are the sweet spots — hot sea, open beach clubs, no meltemi rage. July–August is peak everywhere with the meltemi wind whipping the Cyclades. Meteora and Athens are also great from October to April with cooler weather and empty sites.
Emergencies
112 pan-European number. ESY public hospitals are free at point of use for EU visitors with a EHIC/GHIC — Attikon and Evangelismos in Athens are the best-equipped. Farmakeia rotate 24-h duty — every pharmacy posts the closest 'diaminevon farmakeio' on its door.
